Testosterone Treatment > Diagnosis
The Men’s Health Centre takes a broad look at a man’s state of wellbeing, specializing in the areas of testosterone related problems
(Andropause - Male Menopause - Hypogonadism) and prostate health.
The main way of diagnosing testosterone deficiency is by checking the characteristic symptoms which are present in nearly every case. The symptom check list used in the clinic is similar, but more extensive, than the internationally available and validated AMS questionnaire given for your use on this site.

To help confirm the diagnosis of testosterone deficiency and find its cause, as well as guide treatment, a detailed history is taken, with each patient is being given a thorough physical examination by the Consultant, and a detailed hormonal, biochemical, haematological and urinary profiling is carried out. Further laboratory or ultrasound investigations are undertaken where needed.
When the results of these tests are available, which is usually the same day, they are discussed with the consultant, and where necessary, testosterone treatment started immediately.
Careful monitoring of the relief of the specific symptoms of testosterone deficiency, together with further checks of the hormone levels and other safety factors are carried out at initially three, and then six monthly intervals during the course of the testosterone treatment. This is in accordance with the guidelines for treatment published by The Society for the Study of the Aging Male and The American Endocrine Society which are followed in this clinic. |
